Letter: Trump will be happy with his legacy. It’s disturbing that his supporters may be equally happy.

While most presidents are somewhat disappointed with their legacies, Trump’s view will be notably different. In a remarkably short period, he has alienated most of the world. His tariffs have caused economic turmoil, his decision to cut medical aid has resulted in numerous deaths, his overt racism has devalued half the world, his Venezuelan takeover has frightened countries globally, his threats to take over Greenland have turned Europeans against us, and his incessant, boorish bullying disgusts every decent human being.

A measure of evil is the pleasure derived from hurting others. Trump’s joy is readily apparent when he boasts about the latest person/group/city/state/country he has traumatized. If a global vote were held to determine the world’s most evil leader, he would likely emerge as the winner. While past presidents would be embarrassed or angered by such a result, Trump would view it as an honor and proclaim the date it occurred a national holiday.

When Stephen Miller walks into the Oval Office and informs Trump that his wealthy friends, who he has significantly enriched or recently pardoned, have commissioned a sculpture of Trump, Hitler, and Stalin to be carved into a mountain in Greenland, Trump will be ecstatic. He will go to hell a happy man.
