Letter: The Utah Symphony has been elevated to world-class status. See — and hear — for yourself.

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Thierry Fischer conducts a rehearsal of the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

With the appointment last year of Markus Poschner as music director of the Utah Symphony, the organization took a giant leap forward. No longer is this a decent regional orchestra; it’s now an ensemble worth the effort to see and hear.

I’ve been a Utah Symphony subscriber for nearly 35 years. I grew up in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, where I heard incredible performances led by great conductors such as Ormandy, Bernstein, Giulini, Mehta, Thomas, and Dudamel. Now I just need to drive 20 minutes to enjoy great performances!

If you’ve ever thought about giving symphonic music a try, now is the time. Maestro Poschner and the Utah Symphony are an absolute delight!
