Trump denies prices are rising, dismissing voters’ concerns about the economy: “Our energy costs are way down. Our groceries are way down. Everything is way down.” Government statistics say otherwise. His billionaire friends are doing fine and sending him money to bribe their way out of tariffs that tax business and consumers. He only cares about the rising stock market and his cryptocurrency empire.
While he campaigned on “making America great again,” we endured the longest government shutdown while he traveled overseas and ignored voters’ concerns. During the shutdown he withheld SNAP food benefits and forced some government employees to work for no pay.
Housing costs, groceries and utility bills are unmanageable for too many Americans just as health care costs are set to increase. Trump is unable to empathize with voters’ economic pain because he’s never had to shop for groceries or pay the rent. Trump lashed out at reporters who questioned him about the cost of living! A majority of Utahns, including military families, are living paycheck-to-paycheck and struggling to cover expenses.
Recently he called affordability “a con job.” The president is out of touch with Americans.
