Letter: What to make of your slogans in light of your actions, Gov. Cox?

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Gov. Spencer Cox speaks with members of the media during the PBS Utah Governor's Monthly News Conference at the Eccles Broadcast Center in Salt Lake City onThursday, August 21, 2025.

“O ye hypocrite” once more, Gov. Cox. When will it end?

We’ve seen you making the rounds on various news programs preaching about “treating all people with dignity and respect,” “civility” and “disagreeing better.”

Is that what you were doing when you and the Legislature ignored voters who wanted independent redistricting? Is that what you were doing when you threatened to impeach judges who didn’t agree with you? Is that what you were doing when, in the end, you found a way to “legislate” exactly what you wanted in the first place, and recently signed into law a bill that undercuts Proposition 4 and leaves us once again with a gerrymandered map?

Perhaps it felt grand to be up on your righteous high horse these last few weeks speaking to the nation, but the folks at home know better.
