Letter: We’re living in the era of the most anti-environmental American president

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Wind turbines in the Milford Valley Energy Corridor in Beaver County are shown on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023.

A recent headline read, “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to roll back a 2009 finding that greenhouse gas emissions harm public health.”

It’s the Trump administration that wants this roll back. Donald Trump is the most anti-environmental president this country has ever had. He opposes offshore wind farms because he says they kill birds. He wants to open our coasts to offshore oil drilling even though oil spills have killed far more sea birds than wind turbines. He wants to declare an energy emergency to keep old coal fired generating plants from closing, while opposing replacing them with clean energy power plants. He withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accords.

It’s too bad the leader of this country is trying to increase the use of oil and coal while the rest of the world is trying to reduce carbon emissions.
