An open letter to A.G. Brown and Gov. Cox:
Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has decided Trump v. CASA, we know that other states’ suits to stop unconstitutional actions by the federal government will not be enjoined by courts except for parties to the case asking for the injunction.
So . . . if you do not want to have children born in Utah rendered stateless and ineligible for any benefits of citizenship, please join Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada in their lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the executive order stripping citizenship from anyone whose parents are not citizens.
And, while you are at it, please consider the constitutionality of other actions that the federal administration is taking that may harm Utahns — for example, clawing back funding from school and afterschool programs – and take action to protect our state.
