Letter: Utahns deserve clean air and the beauty of blue skies

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Air pollution obscures downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.

Being a newcomer to the beautiful state of Utah has been both exciting and eye-opening. The endless outdoor activities are re-sparking the light within me to take life by the reins, appreciate every day, and live each day I have on this earth to the fullest. As I pack up my vehicle with adventure gear and dogs, I hit the road bright-eyed and eager for what’s to come. Then smack. I’m struck by a wall of smog that hazes the light in the sky and dims the light in my eyes.

Is this how it’s always been? Is this really what Utahns want to accept as normal? I just can’t believe the people of this beautiful place haven’t stood up and said, “Enough, things have got to change.” If part of the challenge is not knowing how to make that change, we have a starting point: John Curtis is working to protect the health of our state through clean energy tax credits. But he needs your help to keep these tax credits on the table.

Please show your support for this beautiful state and its future by thanking Sen. John Curtis for his support of clean energy tax credits and urging Sen. Mike Lee to join him. The people of our state deserve clean air and the beauty of blue skies.

Carly Hall, Ogden
