Letter: To honor a beloved person’s memory, why not give back to our community in their name?

When my mother and my wife’s mother passed away, our families decided to honor their legacy with a donation to the Maliheh Free Clinic. We did this because they both cared passionately for those in need and this organization provides desperately needed medical care for some of our neighbors who need it the most.

As I drive around the valley it occurs to me that other members of our community might consider doing something similar as they profess to honor their loved ones. The Salt Lake Tribune, Friends of the Great Salt Lake, The Red Cross or any one of the many wonderful charitable organizations our state is blessed with could use their support.

What better way to show respect for a life well lived and honor a beloved person’s memory than to give back to our community in their name.
