Letter: One might conclude lots of Utah lawmakers are fans of “Dr. Strangelove”

I note that Utah has opted to become the only state in the union to ban fluoride in public drinking water.

It reminds me of Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1964 film “Dr. Strangelove,” in particular the scene where the loony commander of a U.S. Air Force base (in Greenland, perhaps?) named “Jack D. Ripper” lectures British major Lionel Mandrake on the “evils” of fluoridated water. Ripper claims that such water contaminates a person’s “purity of essence.”

So there must be lots of Kubrick buffs in our state Legislature. Who knew?
