Letter: Is irony dead in West Jordan? A commemorative plaque marking the nation’s birthday suggests so.

West Jordan recently placed a plaque in the Veteran’s Memorial Park to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birthday of the United States and the patriots who contributed to the cause.
If the Democrats lose this election, I believe future citizens will be baffled by this plaque.
Utah overwhelmingly voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. There is every reason to believe this will happen again. Utah will vote to dismantle our current government in favor of an authoritarian president who will take away our civil liberties and political rights.
If the GOP prevails in 2024, we will at least have a commemorative plaque to remember the good old days.
