I’ve seen a few stories in the media lately about property taxes rising rapidly throughout the state.

It’s time to remind Utahns that tax relief may be available through their local property taxing agency through the Circuit Breaker program for homeowners, and there’s many ways to qualify.

But they have to hurry – the deadline to file is Sep. 3.

Homeowners seeking to qualify must go to their local property taxing agency, usually a county auditor or treasurer, and fill out the forms with them. Bring any income tax returns and if your home is in a trust, bring your trust papers.

Qualifying information is available on the state tax commission website.

Or call your local treasurer, auditor, or tax administrator’s office to find out more – but hurry! The deadline is nigh!
