So, Gov. Spencer Cox finally endorsed Trump for president. What a surprise.

They all do in the end. They have to drop to their knees and kiss his ring. They know that Trump is the path to power for any Republican in this country, regardless of what a horrible, hateful, vindictive, corrupt liar he is. And you need power to enrich yourself, which is the real endgame for politicians. It shows you just how little character, integrity and morals these Republicans have. They certainly don’t care about the country or Democracy or the people. They care about themselves, power and money, nothing more. They will say anything or kiss anything to get it.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
