Letter: Biden’s State of the Union speech showed him firing on all cylinders. Trump could never do that.

(Kenny Holston | The New York Times) President Joe Biden delivers the State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, on March 7, 2024. Looking on are Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

For months all we have heard on various media sources is how old Joe Biden is. Fox News can’t go more than five minutes without mentioning it.

Delivering the State of the Union address, Biden proved all that to be wrong. He was vibrant, charismatic, active, highly intelligent on all subjects and quick with his wit. He held the nation and the world’s attention. Even the speaker of the House and several Republican senators could be seen nodding approval at some of the things he said.

The president is 81, Harrison Ford is 82 and still making movies, Jane Fonda is 86 and still active, Kris Kristofferson is 87 years old and still knows all the words to hundreds of songs. Warren Buffett is 93, Robert Redford is 87, Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger are 81. All of those people are still very active. Donald Trump is 77 and seldom if ever walks any farther than from his plane to his car.

It took the president nearly 30 minutes to make it from the entry door to the podium — everyone in the place, including some Republicans, wanted to shake his hand and get his attention. Then, when the speech was over, it took him 30 minutes to get to the exit for the same reasons. They actually had to start turning out the lights in the chamber to encourage him and the others to leave.

On the other hand, Trump could not make that speech in 100 years if his life depended on it. He has stated he likes uneducated people. He has called our fallen soldiers losers and suckers. What Trump would do is spew out more of his hatred, more of his speech to divide people, more of his dislike for people of all nationalities. Except, of course, his BFFs Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-Un and Xi Jinping. Trump often talks about the president’s gait while he is walking. When was the last time anyone has seen Trump on a bicycle? In the first place, there’s not a seat big enough and in the second place you would have to have tractor tires on it. Or when has anyone seen him walk down a slight incline without holding on to a military officer’s arm for support.

There is a clear choice in the upcoming election, either we can take the forward path with Biden or go in reverse, or worse, with Trump.

I have no doubt that here in Utah Trump will win overwhelmingly. That just boggles the mind of anyone with any intelligence. Trump is a coward, a draft dodger, a liar, an adulterer, a sexual predator and a cheat along with a lot of other negative things that room here does not permit. His remarks about fallen soldiers being losers and suckers, and telling Putin to do whatever the heck he wants to in Europe should be enough to prove that to people.
