Letter: Supporting Trump is simply another way to give the “Heil Hitler” salute

Most Americans do not know what I am talking about when I mention ration books. I remember grocery shopping with my mom in the early 1940s and she had to tear out little cards that showed she could still purchase a bag of sugar or butter or meat that month.

Americans were willing to be rationed in support of our government that was trying to feed our troops.

I also couldn’t have a scooter because rubber was needed by the military.

I don’t think our country would be willing to sacrifice now the way people were after America joined the Allied Forces.

If we don’t decide that supporting Trump is simply another way to give the “Heil Hitler” salute, we are going to reap the consequences of our inaction.

I’m 84 and there’s no way I will be around long enough to see the country that my children and especially my grandchildren will experience if/when Trump wins in November. By the end of January 2025 we would be living in a country we wouldn’t recognize. But we can’t say we weren’t warned. All the signs are there. Vote.
