Letter: If all we do is continue to point fingers, we will wake up one day and not recognize our country

(The Salt Lake Tribune)

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” — Edmund Burke

It would seem our state Legislature, governors, Congress, president, and former president have come up with the solutions to: Immigration (after the election); transgender issues; homelessness; affordable housing; CRT and DEI (most do not even know what this is); banning books; education; and more.

The solution, if you ask them, is thoughtful consideration for us, our children, and our country. Working together to protect all.

Actions speak much louder than words. Their solution in reality?

Soundbites about the evil in the other party. Calling your opponent’s names (pedophiles), open borders, suing companies so they can flex muscles and say see, we are doing something.

Statement bills that cost us millions to defend.

Political stunts that bring in donations from the extreme left and right (i.e., busing migrants to other cities with no solution to solving the issue). Do not pass any good legislation until after the election.

Our society deserves this madness until we can come together and not just speak out. We must act and make it more profitable to do what is right than spout conspiracy theories to raise money.

If you are thinking, that is right, the Republicans are destroying our country or, indeed, the Democrats are pedophiles who want to groom our children, you are part of the problem.

It is time to stop this madness. This is our country. A nation of immigrants and great people who care about each other. If we continue to point our fingers and say that it is someone else’s problem to correct, we will wake up one day and not recognize our country.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
