Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham recently claimed, “The bottom line is conservatives are tolerant. We are, you know, kind of, get out of your business. You leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone.”
Sen. Graham neglected to mention that his statement doesn’t apply to you if ...
You desperately need to terminate a life-threatening pregnancy;
You want access to birth control;
You want to be able to choose what books you and your children read;
You don’t want Republican officials to access your private medical records;
You’re a transgender person who needs to use the restroom;
You’re a parent of a transgender child who needs medical care;
You’re a private business owner who wants to make all your employees feel valued;
You’re a college student who wants to major in a subject that Republicans don’t approve of;
You’re a gay person who wants to marry the one you love;
You’re a teacher, librarian, or election worker who wants to do your job without being harassed;
You’re not a white, Christian, heterosexual, male Republican, or you want to vote for someone other than a Republican;
Of course, the list could go on, but the bottom line is that contrary to Sen. Graham’s claim, never before has a single political party attempted to take away so many rights from so many different groups of people.
