As I read the very well-written feature in a recent edition of The Tribune on the plight of the homeless in Salt Lake City, I couldn’t keep my mind off the huge new LDS Temple being built in Taylorsville as well as all the others under construction around the world.
I’m not sure who is supposed to be impressed with these multi-million dollar edifices.
Oh, all the homeless who could have been sheltered with this church money! All of the food which could have been given to the hungry! All of those who could have gotten clothed and the many who could have been given an advanced education and all who could have gotten much-needed medical care!
What a travesty! But, hey, when one has all of the billions of tax-free money accumulating one has to get what write-offs one can. Perhaps fewer and less gaudy structures would help the church in its ever-increasing PR challenges.
