The federal government just went against the state of Utah in court and the wish of our politicians to allow pollution to continue and the downwind effect of pollution on our neighbor Colorado.
Yep, they appropriated $2 million taxpayer dollars to “fight against” cleaner air for Utahns and cleaner air for Coloradans, spent it and then, they lost.
But residents of Utah and Colorado won big time because they lost.
Kinda like the coal railway that politicians wanted and the feds said no to. Money vs health, citizens vs legislators — old habits die hard.
Confused?
The values of the majority of Utah residents who wish for cleaner air, water to protect the Great Salt Lake ecosystem, women’s rights, independent redistricting, medical marijuana…are far out of step with our politicians.
Gov. Spencer Cox asks us to “disagree better” instead of “listening to constituents” better.
Sen. Mike Lee talks about flooding at the Burning Man festival as “God’s judgment,” while the air is polluted and the lake dries up in his backyard. Lee, the guy who wanted to find a way to keep Trump in office, the unknighted captain of Moroni’s army.
Enough! Highlight their shared and guileless hypocrisy, vote for true representation, vote for an independent voice, for integrity, for protection of our health. We need action and it won’t come from the letters R or D.
