Sen. Lee,
Seriously? A weather disaster is God’s judgment? So, I suppose the recent hurricane that ravaged Florida is God’s judgment for the conservative Republican governor trying to take First Amendment rights away from groups of people he doesn’t like and change the history of our country to be more palatable for white people.
Many members of the Republican Party, who claim to be religious, continue to persecute groups of people they don’t like (e.g., LGTBQ+, immigrants, the history of Black America, etc.), even though God’s second commandment is “love your neighbor as yourself.” And, the First Amendment guarantees the same rights to everyone.
It is awfully convenient to also attach “God’s judgment” to anything that happens to people you don’t like that makes you happy.
It is sad, Sen. Lee, that you delight in the misery and difficulty of others. What a horrible example for someone in your position. Don’t blame God for your selfish rant. The judgment is on you.
