Gov. Spencer Cox wants us to “disagree better” and Rep. Blake Moore wants us to discuss energy and tax policy rather than to focus on Donald Trump’s indictments or the House of Representatives impending impeachment proceedings against the “Biden family.”
Both of them fail to understand the ire that their statements generate because of their absolute ignorance of the partisanship that they have created and their willfulness in not addressing the real problems in the United States.
In the case of Blake Moore, his partisanship was heard loudly and clearly by his statement about the upcoming presidential election: “It is shaping up to be a narrative about all the things that Trump is going through with these indictments and all the things the Biden family has done with respect to money laundering and payments from malign actors.”
So Blake Moore sees Trump as a poor victim and has to “go through” all these indictments while the Biden family actually “has done” all the things they are accused of doing … case closed.
If Cox and Moore want to be the leaders they aspire to be, it is time for them to knock off all the partisanship, speak truth about Trump, and move on to true debates about all the real issues that we are facing: increasing income inequality, the rise of homelessness, the increase in food insecurity, the need to tackle climate change, the rise of racism and xenophobia about the “other,” and the decline of ethics in all branches of government.
