Letter: A monorail would be less obtrusive than a gondola

(Utah Department of Transportation) A rendering of a proposed gondola in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Rather than a gondola, how about a monorail above the existing road? The expense might be about the same, but it would be much less obtrusive regarding the view and probably an easier build.

Also, make construction a loan from the Utah Treasury or UDOT — or both — and the money received from ticket purchases for use would go toward payback and maintenance.

This removes the costs to taxpayers, most of whom will never avail themselves of its use and who now resent the costs which will only benefit the well-to-do. (Or make the businesses that will benefit pay for the whole shooting match).
