Welcome Sara Weber to the Salt Lake Tribune! I was so pleased to read of your desires for the Voices section of the paper (“More perspectives, less polarization...”, June 25). Your emphasis on “prioritizing debate over discord, decency over rudeness, and reason over rants” resonated deeply with me.

I volunteer for an organization, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, that shares your goals. Our nonpartisan, nonprofit, volunteer-based organization is building the political will needed for effective federal policy addressing the challenges of our changing climate. We approach our interactions with a spirit of appreciation, gratitude and respect. By relating to policy makers in this manner, we have found great success while having fun and deriving personal satisfaction along the way.

Whether it’s writing for The Tribune or expressing thoughts on social media, it can be challenging to approach others with understanding rather than resorting to complaining or ranting. I encourage all who care about our common home and want to make a difference, to explore the opportunities through Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Additionally, I encourage you to share your valuable views in the newly established Voices section of The Tribune.

David Folland, Sandy
