In a recent op-ed, David Brooks seems pleasantly surprised at capitalism’s ability to keep rolling on through all the crises it largely created for itself since 1990, knowing full well that society won’t let them actually fail.
And, contrary to his final assertion, it wasn’t exactly capitalism that led to poverty hitting an all-time low in 2021, it was President Joe Biden’s direct government infusion of capital into the hands of families.
