Letter: A measure of our cluelessness? Flood of unnecessary sports analogies.

Your story about recent flooding in Salt Lake City quotes National Weather Service meteorologist Christine Kruse explaining that a cubic foot of water is “about a basketball of water.”

Have we all become so clueless that we can’t visualize a cubic foot without an obligatory sports analogy?

And, by the way, a basketball is 752 cubic inches and a cubic foot of water is 1728 cubic inches, so they’re not even close. (FYI: a cubic inch is about a radish.)
