Letter: There are great women in our government but we have some pretty sad ones too

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Kera Birkeland, R-Morgan, during debate in the Utah Senate over a bill that would bar transgender girls from competing in school sports matching their gender identities, in Salt Lake City on Friday, March 4, 2022.

In Don Gale’s recent commentary he says we should elect more women. I’d like to suggest we elect better people. I agree with so many of his points about male chauvinism and the mostly male legislators and I’m flattered that he thinks we could do a better job. Unfortunately we’ve proven we don’t have a corner on the empathy or rational thinking market.

I’ll take a Nate Blouin over a Kera Birkeland any day.

Who’d take Marjorie Taylor Greene or Lauren Boebert over Hakeem Jeffries? Certainly not me.

How many women voted for Donald Trump? Come on ladies, that’s just embarrassing.

I know there are great women in our government but we have some pretty sad ones too.

When will we stop voting against our own best interests and start actually looking at the person running and hold them accountable be they a woman or a man?
