A developer is planning to build an eight story, 550 unit apartment complex, plus two levels of parking, at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, directly east of the dog park. The current two parcel site, situated on Emigration Creek, is zoned FR-2 residential. The developer has before City Planning and Zoning a request to change zoning from FR-2 to RMF-75, high density, to allow construction of a 70,332 square foot building.

This development should be a nonstarter. For example, it will be a scar at the mouth of the canyon, destroy green space and wildlife habitat and degrade Emigration Creek. In addition, it will create hazardous conditions to motorists, bikers and runners because the sole access to and from the project site is the two-lane Emigration Canyon Road. Also, there is a woeful lack of existing infrastructure (water, sewer, storm drainage) for such a massive development.
Please submit comments to the city opposing this ill-conceived project.
