Over the last 20 years the income of rich Americans has grown 60%, the poor just 20%. Meanwhile, the cost of everyday foods has also increased 60% and college fees have doubled. Fortunately, you don’t need a degree to realize that it’s increasingly harder for the American poor to survive and their young to get ahead. Could that be why suicide is the leading cause of death — after accidents — for 11 to 34 years olds?
At the same time expenditure on elections has grown threefold. Who funds elections? The rich. Who benefits the most from them? The rich. Didn’t the U.S. revolt against the British because they were overtaxing Americans to benefit their rich?
Who are rated the happiest nations on earth? The Scandinavians. Who has the highest but most evenly spread taxes? The Scandinavians.
There’s a lesson here — the more united the better. Unfortunately, America has never been more divided. The rich would like to keep it that way. In the great scheme of things buying legislators costs peanuts.
It’s time for a second American revolution — at the ballot box this time!
