Letter: Stretch of state road near Little Cottonwood Canyon under UDOT’s jurisdiction is an eyesore

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) The mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Has UDOT taken a good look at 9400 South east of Highland Drive to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon?

This stretch apparently does not belong to Sandy. It is a state road under UDOT’s jurisdiction. It’s far from being a scenic drive to our beautiful canyon and the two world-class ski resorts. Both sides of 9400 South are littered with broken-down fences, weeds, partial sidewalks, rocks, overgrown and dead vegetation.

The driving experience certainly does not support the Utah brand.

We locals tend to ignore it because we can’t do anything to improve it, but surely tourists are appalled by the ragtag appearance of what should be a beautiful drive into the mountains.

Don’t believe me? Take a drive and look around.
