Letter: Forget the gondola. If we don’t save the Great Salt Lake, it will be useless.

Putting the cart before the horse …
I’m trying to understand why the gondola project for Little Cottonwood Canyon is still being promoted. The focus should be on saving the Great Salt Lake above and beyond any other projects in the state. Without the lake and lake effect snow, we won’t need a gondola or a wider road up to the ski resorts, no one will be skiing.
As a matter of fact, everyone will be moving out of this state and visitors when they hear about our toxic air won’t be coming.
The ski resorts, the LDS Church, the governor, the Legislature and the many businesses that are headquartered in Salt Lake City and the surrounding communities should have a huge vested interest in saving the lake and it should be the priority for everyone in Utah. Our future depends on it.
