Who knew? I always thought “The Handmaid’s Tale” was a work of apocalyptic fiction, when it was really a history book just a little ahead of its time. I hear there’s a sequel in the works where the Texas GOP platform replaces the U.S. Constitution. (I know the perfect Utahn to play Aunt Lydia in the sequel).
Women, let this be a lesson to you. If you have sex for any purpose other than procreation, you are a slut. And don’t dare have a miscarriage or have your life endangered because of a high-risk pregnancy. Your medical records, your doctor’s visits won’t be protected from a warrant by a prosecutor.
You’re obviously hiding an abortion. Off to jail you go.
And men, for whom there are no consequences: If I remember my high school biology, 100% of unwanted/unplanned pregnancies are caused by irresponsible ejaculations. But then it’s always been OK that boys will be boys. And boys are still in charge.
