We all know and love someone who has had or will have an abortion. As a result of the recent Supreme Court decision, some of these women we love will now die. It is not about protecting life. It never has been. It is about control. Eliminating access to women’s health care keeps women from reaching their dreams. It can end their dreams altogether — whether those dreams are to be a doctor, a nurse, a librarian, or a mother at the right moment in her life.
White, Republican, faux-Christian men work hard to keep women under their control and in the place they believe we belong. But, we belong everywhere, especially everywhere decisions are being made — whether that is at the state Legislature, in Washington D.C., or at the voting booth.
Apparently, they are very afraid of us and our power. Women, and those who love them, need to start voting for politicians who truly believe that, in America, everyone should have access to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — including women, members of our LGBTQ+ community, Black and other people of color. And this means voting for Democrats up and down the ballot in every single election. We have the power and it is time to use it.
