Letter: Time for Mama Bears to target lawmakers’ intransigence on gun reform with all their might

The other night I dreamt of bears. They were everywhere trying to claw or bite anyone in their path. I puzzled over why I would have such a dream. Then it hit me. Uvalde.

The Mama Bear inside me is making herself known. She’s not going away. I’m hearing there are lots of Mama Bears out there — claws out, sharp teeth bared.

We’re enraged by the shooting(s) and the GOP response. We’re livid about the endless efforts of Republicans to block sensible, rational gun laws. We’re disgusted by the lies, excuses and NRA talking points that Republican politicians use to justify letting the carnage continue.

They pretend to listen, but they don’t care. So, Mama Bears, let’s be loud. They are supposed to represent us. They refuse.

Vote them out. Make noise. Growl. Bombard them with emails. When you see them in public, tell them what you think. Now is not the time to be quiet. That’s what they want. They want to do nothing and stay in power. Don’t let them.
