The New York Times book review of William Barr’s book about the Trump administration, “One Damn Thing After Another,” made it clear that there is a close connection between our former president and Vladimir Putin.

Recent reports have suggested that Putin is sheltered from the realities of his war in Ukraine. Aides have been fired for voicing contravening perspectives that do not agree with his beliefs. Those in his inner circle hesitate to say anything that could be seen as criticism. He is a sheltered despot.

Likewise Trump surrounded himself with devoted followers and responded with vitriol towards those he saw as problematic.

Both Putin and Trump have huge egos and anything that questions their stability is politically dangerous .
