I read with amusement Bryan Schott’s article about “The Common Cause” podcast, hosted by Reps. Phil Lyman and Mike Petersen.
In their podcast, their guest, “Salty Annie,” indicated how the United Nations has a “foothold in Utah” and then provided a host of conspiracies about how the U.N. is trying to infiltrate Utah and “brainwash” us.
As one of the approximately 130 members of the Utah Chapter of the United Nations Association-USA and its regional representative for the Rocky Mountain Region, our goal is to support the United Nations and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, like ending poverty, good health, quality education, decent work and economic growth, and more.
In fact, most Utahns support the United Nations and its efforts worldwide. In a recent poll issued by the Better World Campaign, 72% of Utahns of voters in Utah say it is important for the U.S. to be a member of the United Nations, 66% support the work the United Nations does to address issues globally, and 82% say the United States should work cooperatively through international institutions to address conflicts abroad.
The United Nations Association-Utah Chapter is proud to have a “foothold” in Utah to promote a better world for all of us, and encourage others to join our group.
