Letter: Quit giving our so-called “moderate Democrats” column inches for their nonsense

So we Democrats are again being told to change our voter registration to Republican so that we can elect a more moderate candidate. Please explain to me how we make the case that we have been gerrymandered if we all register as Republicans?

Ben McAdams tells us that Evan McMullin will be superior to Mike Lee. I invite you to actually read McMullin’s platform which has the usual Republican talking points about entitlements (Social Security, Medicare) and the deficit. The only difference I can see is that McMullin didn’t commit the faux pas of ranting about Captain Moroni.

Kem Gardner and Jim Dabakis counseled us to register as Republicans last year in order to keep Greg Hughes out of the governor’s mansion. Instead we have “nice guy” Spencer Cox who has mangled the pandemic, said nothing about the Inland Port and gives us his “what me worry” smile after the redistricting debacle. Please keep in mind the The New YorkTimes shows Utah #6 in the nation for all-time number of COVID cases per 100,000.

Please quit giving our so-called “moderate Democrats” column inches for their nonsense.

Christine B. Helfrich, Millcreek
