Letter: We just can’t smell it yet, but our golden goose is rotting

This is an artist rendering of the planned Mayflower ski resort development near the Jordanelle Reservoir.

Hear, hear to Christopher Smart’s recent commentary, “Selling off what makes living in Utah special for quick cash.” Just wait two more years until Mayflower ski resort is open on the west side of Jordanelle Reservoir.

They figure 4,000 clients and 2,300 workers per day. Can’t wait to see an additional 6,000 people every day on Highway 40 between Park City and Heber. If we get a good snow storm, we may need to build a gondola from Quinn’s Junction or a tram from Midway to make sure we can get the maximum number of people to the site.

And let’s not forget the new constructions at the Park City ski resort parking lot and the parking area at the base of Deer Valley.

More, more, more. (Olympic dreams?) Let’s throw in the Inland Port and see how much traffic and smog I-80 can handle.

And let’s not forget all the development in Utah County and our southern red rock country. How about a pipeline from a dry river to the hope of a new golf course? We just can’t smell it yet, but our golden goose is rotting!
