Letter: Instead of more police, how about have fewer guns?

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Memorial for Aaron Lowe, by the gate of the house on the corner of Broadmore St. and Yermo Avenue, on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.

Here’s an idea. Suppose instead of having more and more police, as outlined in a recent article in The Tribune, we try having fewer and fewer guns. If there hadn’t been guns at that house party where Aaron Lowe was killed, the police response to a noisy out-of-control party would have been more or less appropriate. As it is, you never know when the slightest disruption or dispute can suddenly turn deadly. There aren’t enough police on Earth and never will be if we cannot give up the right to express our emotions through firearms.
