Letter: A true patriot would be proactive in curtailing the spread of COVID-19

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Registered nurse Yazmin Tovar gives Taylor Hilmo, 16, her first dose shot of the Pfizer vaccine as people are vaccinated against COVID-19 at the former Provo High School at 1125 N. University Ave. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

There is a statistical probability that the naysayers of COVID-19 vaccinations are the same people who don’t get flu shots each year. Naysayers would rather take their chances for a full blown case of the flu rather than get a shot that could curtail the flu and its symptoms.

The anti-vaccine people have to be aware of the published facts that flu symptoms are of a less deadly nature than COVID-19 and its numerous strains.

I believe in protecting our democracy, nation and family when we are under a siege of any kind.

A true patriot would be proactive in curtailing the spread of COVID-19, protecting their family and country by getting eligible family members inoculated against the COVID-19 and its strains.

If you’re not willing to get a shot in your arm then you’re less likely to bear arms against an armed insurrection. You’re just proving how unpatriotic you are by not protecting your family, democracy and its people. There is no compromising about your individual rights when we are under siege. Step up or shut up.
