The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed landmark legislation that creates a pathway to citizenship for undocumented youth who came to this country as children, grew up in our communities, and know no home but the United States. I hope our senators, Mitt Romney and Mike Lee, will work to ensure that HR6, the Dream and Promise Act, passes the Senate quickly.

Our nation is stronger because of the immigrants who come to our country every year. As a young person who believes in the goodness, potential and contributions of my undocumented American peers, I strongly believe that legislation to provide a pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth known as Dreamers is an urgent priority, especially for our community here in Utah. Ultimately, congressional action is needed to overhaul our entire immigration system, but the Dream and Promise Act passed is an important step in the direction of inclusive immigration laws.
