Letter: It’s clear the GOP has no moral compass of interest in true democracy

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Chris Stewart talks to Utah Republican Party chairman Derek Brown at the Utah Association of Realtors office in Sandy, on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020.

Per CNN: Republican legislators around the country are moving aggressively to strip governors and other officials of their power to change election rules -- after states made it easier to vote last year during the coronavirus pandemic and turnout surged to record levels.

Can it become any more evident that the GOP has no moral compass or interest in a true democracy? What would happen if everyone had a secure app on their phone that allowed them to vote?

Republicans have sunk below the tactics of Joseph McCarthy and are in the process of cementing Donald Trump’s legacy of corruption and not having any sense of decency, honesty or integrity.

This not the America our Founding Fathers envisioned. I hear many Republicans fear any Democrat will be worse than Donald Trump.

Trump incited a coup on the White House lawn. Many Republican leaders cheered it on, refusing to admit that President Biden had won the election.

What could be worse than the violent sedition instigated by the former president?

Republican leaders, especially Sen. Lee, Rep. Owens and Rep. Stewart seem intent on following Trump into chaos and destruction of our American democracy. Abolish the Electoral College so that every vote counts equally.
