Letter: Aside from securing an appointment, the vaccination itself is a cinch

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Registered nurse Ashley Gardner from Redrock Pharmacy administers the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Sharon Voegele, 71, as seniors and staff at The Ridge Foothill, an assisted living center in Salt Lake City, receive the vaccine on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, as the rollout continues at long-term care facilities.

Kudos to Gov. Spencer Cox and the state’s pandemic team and especially the Salt Lake County Health Department. It was absolutely frustrating registering for the COVID 19 vaccinations for my husband and myself.

However, since getting an appointment, it has been an amazingly easy and well organized process -- starting with texts and email reminders and ending with a well-orchestrated process. From the time we showed up 5 minutes before our assigned time to the 15 minute wait to be sure of no adverse reaction, it took not quite 30 minutes. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Social distancing was excellent! Thank you!

Some tips: there are golf carts to take seniors from the car to Mtn. America expo center and return. Bring a paper copy with the barcode or have it ready on your cell phone or iPad. There are plenty of places to sit while waiting. Wear  clothes that allow easy access to your arm. Be patient and kind, everyone is working to make our lives safer!
