In response to Jim Defa’s letter to the editor, “Trump’s pardon of killers is deplorable indeed”: From the beginning, I always felt Donald Trump was “rude, crude, and distasteful,” as I stated in a letter several years ago to this page.

My opinion has changed. As he shows no respect for the elected position of president of the United States, he strikes me as vain, vitriolic, vile, vulgar, vicious and vindictive, which he certainly is showing since the November election.

Couldn’t someone close to him help lead him out of office with a kind word of praise or thanks for his opportunities and the position he’s had this past term? He is beyond deplorable indeed!

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
