I love the Tribune! I’m now in my 77th year. Ever since I was old enough to read, I scoured my parents’ Trib every morning. To this year it’s kept me up on current events.
My grandfather, Cy Thompson, worked on the presses. He actually got his hand caught in them and had a partially lame left hand. He ran the shop behind The Tribune on Regent Street. He’s responsible for building Old Ironsides. In the old days, people would line up on Main Street in front of The Tribune building and watch this metal structure portray the World Series in real time play by play. I’m told that it now resides in the Smithsonian.
Recently, I purchased and received The Tribune’s “Utah Story,” 150 years of photography. It is wonderful and brings back so many heartfelt memories. I’ve read it from cover to cover and found only one error.
My grandfather, dad and I would never have guessed the new chapter coming up in 2021 for The Tribune. But we know it will be great.
