Letter: Lee is a disgrace to Utah and to morality

(Caroline Brehman | Pool via AP) Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, speaks during a meeting Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, on Capitol Hill in Washington.

Mike Lee is hallucinating again.

Now he says muddying the waters around the election is OK because look what happened when Donald Trump was elected, citing the Mueller report and the impeachment effort, suggesting that was unwarranted harassment of the president.

The special counsel’s report lists hundreds of illicit contacts between Trump and his campaign and Russia. Mueller cited 11 instances of obstruction of justice.

The report further says that the special counsel would have brought charges but was prevented from doing so because of the totalitarian rule that Attorney General William Barr wrote the last time he corrupted the Department of Justice during the George W.H. Bush years.

Discounting this as well as the impeachment (asking a foreign government for campaign help, again!) shows me that Lee wants to go all in for the Banana Republic of the United States. Those are “neutral objective facts,” as Mike likes to say. He’s been systematically dismantling democracy for years, suggesting also some form of unelected “republic” is what the founders intended.

Trump is easily the most dishonest, corrupt, inept rotten human being ever to hold the presidency. For Mike Lee, a former “never Trumper,” to continue to prop him up shows what a disgrace he is, not just to Utah, but to his own supposed morality and ethics.
