Letter: Remembering Orrin Hatch

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Vice President Mike Pence poses for photo with Orrin Hatch after speaking at Merit Medical, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.

I would like to address Stan Jacobsen’s Nov. 23 letter (“How is Hatch feeling now?”). Three items come to mind:

1) Former Sen. Orrin Hatch belongs to the party of “Do as I say, not as I do.” Evidence item one: his statement about Frank Moss, one of our nation’s most prestigious senators. Evidence item two: the GOP’s recent Supreme Court nomination push.

2) If the good taxpayers of Utah were fully aware of the amount of campaign donations given to Hatch by Big Pharma during his tenure, they would be aghast. This is the same industry that brought you the opioid crisis and $400 epi-pens.

3) Thankfully, we have not heard from the same Sen. Hatch since his retirement. He likely is not even aware of what a travesty the current occupant of the White House has made of our election process or Constitution.
