Salt Lake City’s limited library access during the pandemic is not cutting it. Who can pick up books from noon to 6 p.m.? Certainly not working people.
I appreciate the efforts to adapt and to reopen slowly, but months later, as we move into a “new normal,” I can’t see any reason why no evening hours are available.
If it’s a staffing issue, I’ll volunteer. Others will volunteer. Volunteers — or library staffers — could even physically take books to people’s doorsteps.
There’s a lot going on. But as the city works more on equity, this is an area that needs attention. And it’s an easy fix. We just want to read our books — books that are accessible to all.
