Not that I read the newspaper or depend on The Tribune for my daily dose of information and news, but I just happened to see a cartoon that Pat Bagley submitted and you published that was highly inappropriate because of what is going on in the world and in our community today. It depicted a law enforcement officer in the doctor’s office, both looking at an X-ray that showed the white image of a KKK hood in the pelvic region. Mr. Bagley must be an angry, lonely man to have time to create such crap and think it will be enjoyed by your readers. It is truly just hateful toward officers who put their lives on the line for people like him every single day without a second thought.
Please share with me how this cartoon is even remotely appropriate? Our Salt Lake City and surrounding area law enforcement have enough to combat on a daily basis without The Tribune continuing the false narrative that all police are racist. This can only lead to inflaming your readers’ emotions, which leads to not-so-peaceful protests that end in violence and destruction.
You are participating in the “mainstream media” flow of the lies and misleading information delivered on a daily basis. You allow this cartoon to paint with a broad brush, and it is absolutely absurd. I have family members in law enforcement who are the best of the best and have not one racist bone in their body. Yet, you are including them in this asinine portrayal of your opinion of our law enforcement. You are putting my family’s lives in danger.
Your editors should take a few seconds to actually read what is being published. Shame on The Salt Lake Tribune. I and my family will never support your paper. And I will share my opinion with my friends and neighbors.
