Letter: No masks, no school

(Nate Carlisle | Tribune file photo) State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson speaks in front of a modified Boeing 747 called the Dream Lifter at Salt Lake City International Airport on July 1, 2020.

Has there been any discussion on pushing back the start of school this year until after a statewide mask mandate has had a chance to lessen the number of active COVID cases? Teachers should strike until this happens.

I realize this is late, but it seems a better option than stubbornly keeping opening dates when if we mandated masks and gave it time to work statewide there would be much less risk to students and faculty.
