The mood of the country is dour and the reason is because of President Trump’s cantankerous politics. If you take the time to read his obstreperous tweets or catch his public comments you find nothing but negativity.
Looking back on the past three years, you discover that he has fired more cabinet members than any previous president, he has criticized NATO, has withdrawn from the Iranian nuclear treaty and quit the World Health Organization, just to name a few. The litany is large.
This November it is crucial to defeat the president in the election if only for the sake of our mental health.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.
Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources. As a nonprofit newsroom, we rely on support from people who believe it matters. Make a donation today to fund local news that serves Utah communities.
