Letter: No mask, no service

(Mark Lennihan | AP file photo) William McCarthy, the director of operations at Junior's Restaurant, delivers a tray of cheesecakes to a front counter, Monday, June 29, 2020, in New York.

Years ago, I remember frequently seeing signs in restaurants and similar public places that read, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service."

Just common sense, right? Strangely, I do not remember even one riot or public protest march in opposition to that policy.

What has changed that makes protecting health by wearing a mask in public during a pandemic health crisis so volatile?
